The Pomak are a religious minority group of Slavic Muslims who reside in the remote villages of the Rhodope Mountains in Northeastern Greece.

Despite being citizens of a modern, Orthodox-Christian nation, sharia law is still implemented in Pomak society until this day.

Caught between a search for personal identity and maintaining their cultural and spiritual convictions, many women in the Pomak villages due to risk of complete ostracization from their friends and families instead of pursuing a more free and fulfilling future.
